Last Day of Class Photos

The lower and upper elementary students enjoyed reading their letters from Santa. As a creative writing exercise, the students wrote letters to Santa Claus (and sometimes Mrs. Claus) asking about their preparations for their day to day life. The students were curious about the elves and their toy-making ability, the reindeer and their preparation for their long flight and Santa's cookie preferences. Each child received a personal reply. The students also enjoyed a presentation on Kwanza.

Holiday Caroling Event – Postponed!

Parents, Our annual holiday caroling event is cancelled for tomorrow evening, Thursday, December 20. Our music teacher, Ms. Becca Sawyer, had to have emergency eye surgery this morning. We know this is a disappointment for many children and their families, and we are working with First Presbyterian Church to find a date in January to reschedule the concert. As soon as more details become available, we will let you know. For our elementary and middle school parents, we will not rehearse at the church this afternoon. You may pick up your students at their regular dismissal time. Please keep Ms. Sawyer and her family in your thoughts for a speedy and full recovery.

UE Field Trip to the George Bush Library Photos

The Upper Elementary Class traveled to the George Bush Library on the campus of Texas A&M last week to see "Leonardo DaVinci - Machines in Motion" a special exhibit featuring over 30 of DaVinci's designs which have been constructed by a group of artisans in Florence, Italy. The Upper Elementary students are studying the Renaissance this year, so this exhibit enhances what the students learned in class. The students also toured the George Bush Presidential Library. Exhibits focusing on Mr. Bush's life and career provided an opportunity for our students to get a detailed look at the presidency. Among the items they saw were the presidential limousine, replicas of his WWII fighter plane and Oval Office, many mementos, letters and gifts given to him during his presidency as well as personal artifacts, including items from his youth, and Mrs. Bush's pearl necklace. The students also toured the gardens behind the library, stopping to visit the Bush family gravesite. A few pictures from the day are posted.
