The Upper Elementary Class traveled to the George Bush Library on the campus of Texas A&M last week to see “Leonardo DaVinci – Machines in Motion” a special exhibit featuring over 30 of DaVinci’s designs which have been constructed by a group of artisans in Florence, Italy. The Upper Elementary students are studying the Renaissance this year, so this exhibit enhances what the students learned in class.
The students also toured the George Bush Presidential Library. Exhibits focusing on Mr. Bush’s life and career provided an opportunity for our students to get a detailed look at the presidency. Among the items they saw were the presidential limousine, replicas of his WWII fighter plane and Oval Office, many mementos, letters and gifts given to him during his presidency as well as personal artifacts, including items from his youth, and Mrs. Bush’s pearl necklace.
The students also toured the gardens behind the library, stopping to visit the Bush family gravesite. A few pictures from the day are posted.
